Chevy goes Capitol Hill: ‘Governing’ fuel efficiency of tomorrow

July 24, 2007

While the disturbingly ugly and dwarfy electric cars that you see on the street today might never be a motivation for you to settle for one, if the hazardous effects of greenhouse emissions is on your list of ‘must-do-something-abouts’, then you got to give it to GM for at least making you feel like it’s the slightest bit worth it. Having made an appearance in Capitol Hill last week, the Chevy is said to be one day be able to be your most-sought after car. Cool, I’d say. They are making electro-cars sound tempting now. GM says that the long term-solution to energy independence is through bio-fuels and the electrification of automobiles, which as per recent estimates, are capable of reducing greenhouse gas missions from vehicles by more than 450 million metric tons annually in 2050 — equivalent to removing 82.5 million passenger cars from the road. Tanklimo: The incorrigible partygoer’s wartime fun

July 24, 2007

Well for those people who like to crush their opponents with no contest… or that guy trying to be a tough guy in the Hummer H3, this might be a joke of the commercial industry targeted at the people who like the push the envelope or I should say this heavy, sluggish monstrosity. Nothing would say f*** thy neighbors as good as crushing their Hummer with this Tank or I should call it, the great white. To tame this beast, it takes three crew members and will house six neighbors and the all mighty couple for a Sunday afternoon drive back from the luncheon. Make sure you are a good conversationalist as this thing might take a little longer than just normal time to get you home. Read more

Jetson’s-like air car’: Finally, automobiles can fly

July 20, 2007

Moeller´s Flying Car

We all know that flying cars have been a topic debated and discussed for ages, and of course has never borne any result. It’s not like we’re waiting for something like that are we? For one, polluting the atmosphere will be on its peak if that ever happens and secondly. It’s way too dangerous and would hike accidents to unprecedented scales.

What you see up there is Moller International’s “Jetson’s-like air car’ small airborne two passenger saucer-shaped vehicle that is designed to take-off and land vertically,” and which remains a safe and pointless 10 feet from ground level. Now, of course anyone who’s been following up for flying cars in a while knows that Moller has been up to this for way too long to even begin setting your hopes high. Read more

Blackbox in your GPS: Something to smile - and feel bad about at once

July 20, 2007

What you see up there, is not just some sleek looking GPS for the great-looking car you just bought, or well, wish to buy. It’s a GPS that’s actually capable of maintaining a record of accidents and car crashes. Well, no, it won’t help you avoid the crash. That’s something you got to do by keeping a tab on your forever booming testosterone levels or maybe be wise and don’t drink and drive.

When the Black Eagle GPS detects a deceleration of 1.1G or more, it assumes you’ve run into something , well mostly of the magnitude of a tree or a car, and saves an 18-second video of the collision. I’m still wondering, <!–more–>what good this might do. I mean it’s obviously not preventive, but yeah it would be great evidence to understand the causes of accidents.

I guess it still is a cool thing, but unfortunately only available in Korea as of now. But while it might be an interesting thing to gift yourself, you’re not going to be too happy when your mother discovers on video that you’ve just had a great high-intensity ride. You’ll end up just having a GPS for life, and can forget about your car then. (NiRa)

The fact is that while you’re enjoying the beautiful surroundings, Saab is actually at its vrooming best in trying to preserve it.

Chevy Barbeque: Grilling your steak on a V8 engine block

July 11, 2007

While you’re still wondering what to do with the worn-out table fan that lies in your cupboard, some one out there is up to more innovative thinking. No offence to your creativity, but this guy, Terry Bacon, seems to have made something awesome out of an old Chevy V8 engine block. And the cool thing is that, that ‘something awesome’ is nothing other than a BBQ! Gasping huh? Super fast shooting: Taking race car photographs

July 10, 2007

Imagine you get free tickets to this amazing NASCAR car race show and although you’re jumping crazy with excitement in your seats in the stadium, you can’t but sincerely wish you could get the ultimate stills to show your family at home, who were not so lucky with the free tickets as you were.

If you’ve been in a situation like the one mentioned above, the good news is that you might never encounter one again (not free tickets, I mean the still-photo worries), coz a guy named Rick Graves seem to now have something that can truly capture that breathtaking or breaking moment in the most exact way! Well, he can’t stop time for sure, but what he can do for you is offer you (for a price of course), his Distacam (which is what he calls it right now) that can capture stills of speeding cars at just the right moment. Chinese Cars: The next big thing?

July 10, 2007

If you thought China was all about Chinatown type goods and those cute-eyed (pun-intended) geeks running up every technological possibility of the future, you’re wrong (well not entirely).

Well, they’ve already started invading East London; you never know where they’re heading next. Read more
