Veggie Cars: Substituting crude oil with old vegetable cooking oil

July 4, 2007

Being an environmentalist was always a feel-good factor. But hey, now it’s getting yummy. No, I’m not on some meat-bashing, you-are-responsible-for-world-hunger all vegetarian spree. What I’m trying to talk you into is that you can now enjoy the feel-good “environmentalist” factor by filling up your diesel engines with cooking oil, instead of crude.
A Los Angeles based company called Lovecraft Biofuels is somehow leading the clean revolution and has modified so far more than 1,200 vehicles and sells DIY kits for the mechanically inclined. And the Southern Californians will convert almost any diesel engine - however, German brands Mercedes and Volkswagen (as well as Ford engines) are their top choices to (clean) convert.

The cool thing is that you can just fill er up with used frying oil and bam! Your beauty will just go rocketing up smooth. So the next time you fry that steak, you know where to rid that stinky oil to.

And next time you’re walking past that swanky car shop selling the “supposedly-stylish” green car, you know you got to pat you diesel-bunny. She can give you all that and much more (except the look of course) and just be so much easier on you and your wallet.

The conversion process is embarrassingly simply, and hey for all those chicks out there that are not so great with mechanics, or for all you men out there who may not always head in the right direction, but would love to indulge in some ego-boosting mechanic fun, Lovecraft’s DIY kits might answer your call.
