Volkswagen Passat R36: Audi’s RS4 cousin brings sexy back

September 5, 2008

Volkswagen Passat R36After the R32 Golf, the next car in the lineup to get a serious upgrade is the Passat: the new R36. The Passat has always been a great car, but it lacked the panache of a BMW 3-series and its own cousin, the famous Audi A-4. The Passat, which has actually been the ultimate allround family car in Germany for decades, was always the second inferior option. But now the new R36 has the opportunity to bring sexy back. This tuned VW has aluminum trims, the engine is a stroked and bored version of the R32 engine. This 3.6 liter V6 engine produces 296 BHP, which is employed by a smooth six-speed dual clutch transmission to produce a good performance of 0-62 mph in 5.8 seconds, making it the fastest Passat ever. The wagon is supposed to be .2 seconds faster with 5.6 seconds, which weighs 1747 kilograms.
