Car safety: Toshiba Visconti to replace side mirrors

After Toyota, Toshiba now comes with the Visconti, a technology that features intelligent night vision system. This device though, actually calculates how close the other vehicles are. Recently at the 2008 Automotive Engineering Exposition held in Yokohama, Japan, Toshiba proudly introduced this technology which is now being used by Honda in their cars.

The Intelligent Night Vision System could replace the side mirrors and works better with video cameras. The cams beam a live feed inside the vehicle’s LCD display. Calculating the distance of the car to the other vehicles is the Visconti software.
